Tables and VIP areas: minimum spend, confirmations and how to cut no-shows

A booked table left empty is a double loss. How to organise areas, minimum spend and confirmations so your tables really pay off.

For many venues, tables are the biggest line in the takings. Yet bookings still arrive by phone, private messages and Instagram DMs, and get lost between one chat and the next. Getting organised is the first step to earning more.

Divide the room into areas

VIP area by the DJ booth, tables on the dance floor, terrace: each area has a different feel and a different value. Giving each one a clear minimum spend avoids haggling at the door and makes the choice easy for the guest.

One channel for requests

The form on your website collects everything you need: night, area, party size, arrival time. Requests land in a single, ordered list with the details already filled in.

Always confirm, in writing

The guest should receive a confirmation with area, time and minimum spend. A written confirmation reduces misunderstandings and makes the booking feel like a commitment.

How to cut no-shows

  • Ask for an arrival time and explain how long the table will be held
  • For the busiest nights consider a deposit, deducted from the minimum spend
  • Flag people who don't show up: you'll know next time they ask
  • Keep a waiting list to reassign freed-up tables immediately

Look at the map, not the notebook

A floor map showing free, confirmed and pending tables tells you at a glance how far you are from a sell-out, and helps you decide when to push your marketing.

With the Notturno Tables & VIP module, requests come in from the website and are confirmed with one tap.
